According to HGTV's "Curb Appeal" host, Sasha Andreev, owning a great
home starts with a great first impression. It's all about what your
house looks like from the outside.
Whether you live in a suburban
home or a more urban environment, HGTV’s hit show “Curb Appeal” can
provide great ideas to make the most of your home’s appearance at a
low-cost.
I caught up with Sasha Andreev at the 3-day Washington
Home & Garden Show happening this weekend at the Washington
Convention Center, where he provided me with a few simple and
inexpensive ways to transform outdated homes and liven up the outside of
your house to create that coveted "curb appeal."
His suggestions include:
1. Add color
to your front door. This is especially important if you are trying to
sell your house. Paint the door a brighter color than your home, don't
let it blend in with the rest of the trim.
2.Flank the entryway. Use a few large pots and add plants.
3. Lighting. Use simple and inexpensive solar lights to border the walkway or replace your porch light.
4. Widen the walkway. If you can't do this, try planting a few things along the way to add color and dimension to your yard.
Remember, color is a big deal especially if you have a historic home, which most homeowners in the DC area do.
Sasha
Andreev also helped hand-pick the most exciting products and services
in home and garden on Innovation Avenue including a 3-in-1 Trimmer/
Mower/ Edger, a waterless car wash, the instant clutter buster shelf,
and IKEA's picking and delivery service.
"The Washington Home
& Garden Show is the perfect place to find inspiration and ideas for
your home. Whether you want to buy a new one or fix up your current
one, this is a great place to start," explained HGTV's Sasha Andreev.
